Name:Meaghan McCormack
Website:Rebel, rebel, you've torn your dress
Location:Birmingham, United Kingdom
E-mail:emilyannestout@gmail.com
Bio:Full Name: Meaghan Grace McCormack
Nicknames: Meggers, Gracie, Chipmunk, McC, Mackie, Piggy sometimes but only from the fammie and never around blokes.
Age: 16
Birthday: November 21, 1971 (same as Kirley but five minutes earlier! or fifteen. I don't know, I wasn't really paying attention)
House/Year: Gryffindor 6th, wotwot.
Occupation: Ermmmm Student. I'm 16. And it's not like we're poor or anything, I don't need to work right now.
Sexuality: Ermmmmmmmmm straight.
Martial Status: ERmmmmmmm not, I'm 16 and you ask the weirdest questions.

Immediate Family: Catriona McCormack, mum, Quidditch player of AMAZINGNESS and brilliance. Kirley McCormack, twin brother, younger, ha ha ha.
Loyalty/Alliance: Well er, mum doesn't really like us talking about stuff like death and things, she says to keep our heads down and all. So I guess I'm loyal to her.
Role in the war: I'm kinda hands-off about the whole thing you know, it's great to stay alive and if I got killed by you-know-who I'd never hear the end of it from mum.

Full Personality: The best word to describe Meaghan is inconsistent, though fickle might work too. She has a lot of talent, and is fairly bright, but she doesn't apply herself and doesn't care to start. She is a good, hard worker when she's actually interested in a field or subject, but it's hard to maintain her interest, though not difficult to spark it in the first place. She is very curious, and throws all her energy into the things that interest her, but she burns hot, bright and fast and is soon onto some other brief passion.
She’s not a bad witch, though she has very little interest in useful magic and tends to stick with charming things to make them move around or sing or do cartwheels, spells that are the magical equivalent of tying a cherry stem with your tongue (which she can also do). Showy things and party tricks are her favourites, but she also knows, due to her mother’s good influence and her mother’s friends bad influence, a good smattering of random, very useful “self defense” hexes that will, say, make someone’s ears grow wings or make their hair grow back into their scalp (or make their leg hair jump off, though that one’s a little trickier and she has yet to master it). She has to really concentrate to do anything like that, though, and most of the time she doesn’t care enough. She also has a hard time controlling her magic at times, and it can burst out at extremely inconvenient times and in embarrassing ways.
Meaghan is very easygoing. I mean, very. It takes long, serious, concerted effort to offend her, and if she realizes you’re trying to offend her she’ll usually find it hilarious. She finds most things hilarious, or at least interesting. Everything else tends to go in one ear and out the other. She likes to talk, and talks a lot about pretty much everything, but she’s not a very good listener.

Appearance: Meaghan looks tiny from a distance or in pictures - her nose is small, her eyes are small, her mouth is small. Her face is mostly round with a pointed chin, and her eyebrows are dark, strong and straight. All in all, she has an elfin look to her. But she's actually on the taller side of average, and quite likely to hit or near six feet like her mother. She has long arms and legs, and is very lean, a good build for a Keeper. She has brown (recently cut quite short) hair and hazel eyes, and is naturally pale - she freckles immediately, burns occasionally and never tans. Her best feature is probably her mouth, which is expressive and has very red lips.

History: Meaghan was born to Catriona McCormack at the height of her (Catriona's) career. Kirley was born shortly thereafter - quite soon after, as they're twins. She doesn't know who their father is, or if she does, she's not telling, and in fact always denied that it mattered and resisted all attempts by family, potential fathers and the media alike to get to the bottom of the mystery. She raised her children herself, but not exactly alone - their extended family, and quite a few fellow Quidditch players, had a definite hand. As a result, they grew up friendly and sociable, but with a slightly disjointed and self-contradictory worldview.
They were taught flying and Quidditch at an early age, but Catriona tried not to make too big a deal of it. She wanted them to enjoy Quidditch and to be good on it and to be able to fall back on it if necessary, but she didn't want them to think they had to choose that as their profession. Instead she nurtured every interest they had, whether it was in music (they took piano lessons at an early age) or hairdressing (though she drew the line at letting them cut hers). As a result, Meaghan grew up used to jumping around from hobby to hobby without settling on anything for long, and used to being supported in everything she did.
Her and Kirley's time at Hogwarts has been busy but fun. She joined the house Quidditch team, more out of a vague sense of pride than anything else, and to keep Kirley company (he plays Chaser, and is rather more into it than she is). But she only really gets into it about half the time, and the only thing keeping her in is the fact that she doesn't want anyone else to have her spot.

Writing Samples
First Person: OI YOU LOT!
Guess what? No really, guess it! Guess it or I'll throw something next I see you, really I'll remember this time round.
NO Buckley, it's nothing dirty! Unless you want it to be, anyway, hohoho! NO Billy, it's nothing to do with pants! NO JENKINS, there's no fishes involved, even halfers, don't pretend you don't have a thing for mermaids, I know better! NO, I’m not getting anyone tickets to mum’s next game or anyone else’s next game, you all wore out your welcome second yearabouts. Especially YOU, Guffie McGufferson, YOU KNOW WHY. You need to learn to keep your hands to yourself, girlie, really now. That beater was WAY too old for you anyway, it'd be like robbing the grave or something.
TIME’S UP! The answer is… burumbarumpurrumBURRUMBARRUMMMMM! I CUT IT OFF!

It meaning my nose, I decided it just looked dumb with my face and it had to go. Kinda hurt, but eh I’ll manage. Not like I need a sense of smell anyway.

NO, I mean my HAIR, the stuff on the top of my head, it is gone now. Mostly at least, I didn’t shave it or anything. But it was kinda fun, I was just sitting there and I thought, huh, my hair’s getting longish, and I thought, it does that a lot huh, and I thought, Self, I wonder if there is anyway to stop the longishnessing of my hair? And then it came to me, SELF! YOU SHOULD CUT IT. CUT IT RIGHT NOW.
So I did, and it was pretty brill. I recommend it to everyone except maybe people who like their hair a lot. I kind of want to charm it long and go at it again, EH?

Third Person: It would be a lie to say Meaghan hated shopping with her mum. It was a lot of fun sometimes, depending on 1. what they were shopping for, 2. who was with them (Kirley helped things a lot, any aunts made it significantly worse), and 3. whether there were any antique stores around. Catriona loved antiques ("Coz she's one too," Meaghan had whispered to her brother once, right before she'd been whacked about the head by their mum, who had annoyingly good hearing for an old person), and every time there was an antique shop or a pawn shop or a non-disgusting rummage stall in the area she was magnetically drawn toward it and spent hours there proclaiming dusty old milk jugs and rusty-hinged doors "absolutely perfect!" At least it felt like hours to Meaghan, who had absolutely zero interest in old crap. The only fun thing was watching her mother haggle with the shop owners, and that was only interesting when the arguing got vicious.
It wasn’t quite to that point right now. The owner was still being pretty polite, with his ma’ams and so you sees and trying to hide his excitement at the prospect of getting rid of the oldest, crappiest piece of old crap in the store.
He had a bristly gray mustache like a toothbrush, Meaghan thought. She wished it was just a little bit longer, then it could’ve quivered with delight. Or excitement. Or anger, or whatever. But it was just a boring, sniffy little thing.
Or it had been, anyway – all of a sudden it was growing bigger. She stared at it in fascination, wondering if it just looked bigger because her eyes were wider or it was an aptical allusion or something, but no, it was creeping toward his lips now, and he frowned and stopped talking for a moment to scratch it, and his eyes got wider and he yelped, and for a moment Meaghan gaped, wondering why she had such a better imagination than usual today, was the grapefruit juice off or something that morning? And then her mother looked over and stomped firmly on her foot to break her concentration. She let out a yelp of her own and swore, ducking automatically from force of habit.
"Is something the matter?"
Meaghan started to say that yes it was, she’d just had her foot trampled, but when she looked back up she saw that her mother was talking to the man behind the counter, not her. His moustache was back to normal, too, though he kept feeling at it with a confused expression, and, though he couldn’t see it from where he was standing, Catriona’s wand was pointing at him. Suddenly she realized what had happened, and shrunk in on herself, trying to be less visible. Mum hated it when she did magic on accident. Please let him give her a discount, she thought. If Mum got a good deal out of it, she might be less inclined to punish Meaghan.
